Lift Installation

When installing a new lift, proper planning is vital. Expert consultants must be used to assess the exact needs of the project and to decide on the best course of action. Careful planning is so important since a lift doesn’t just have to be functional but also safe. In most cases, a lift will have to accommodate multiple people at one time, so it must be able to bear the weight of passengers of different sizes. There are a lot of different environments where a lift can be installed and there are potentially hundreds of different configurations that might be used, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. This is why it’s so important to use expert consultants who have a lot of experience in planning lift installations in different types of environments.

Lift Installation – Factors to Consider

With a new lift installation, there are several key factors that have to be taken into account. These include :-
  • Safety – Safety is an incredibly important factor with a new lift installation. This is why it’s vital to choose the right type of lift for a given project. There are two key safety factors with a lift installation – the first is to ensure that that the lift is able to bear the weight of the people using it when at maximum capacity. The second is to have a fully functioning alarm system in place to be used if the lift were to break down.
  • Aesthetics – Whilst safety is obviously an important concern, a good lift installation should also have a focus on aesthetics. Since lifts are often used in upmarket hotels and other refined environments, it’s important that a lift should fit in with its environment and add to the décor rather than distract from it.
  • Environment – The environment that a lift is going to be installed in is another key factor. This will determine not only the look of the lift but also how many floors it must cover and how much weight it will have to bear. Consultants will do a full assessment of the environment to help them decide on the best way to tackle the installation.
A very common environment that lifts are installed in is offices. Generally for smaller offices, a single lift group can serve the entire building. However for larger buildings of more than 20 floors, a single grouping would not be ideal as it would result in long travel times as well as congestion at busy periods during the day.   Ascent Lift Services are able to provide a comprehensive lift installation service to our clients.
